Recent work by researchers at DTU has provided a simple but powerful framework for business leaders and policy makers to understand and navigate the innovation opportunities under crisis.
“The outbreak and the rapid spread of the COVID-19 has already disrupted lives, community, business, and economies worldwide. Yet crisis is one of the fundamental drivers and motivations for innovation.
There is no comprehensive framework that can lead business leaders and innovators to fully understand how to navigate opportunities under the pandemic. That is why in our research we propose four strategies and scenarios that can guide business leaders to navigate the innovation opportunities”, Jason Li-Ying, Professor in Corporate Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Head of Research at DTU Entrepreneurship.
The four strategies include:
- Consolidators
- Newcomers
- Option makers
- Reorganizers
In the video below Jason Li-Ying describes the headlines of the four strategies and how businesses can capitalize on a crisis.
The above video is the second in a series of research videos presented by DTU Entrepreneurship. See more videos here.
About research in innovation and corporate entrepreneurship
We conduct research on corporate entrepreneurship by examining how the institutional environment (e.g., governmental innovation policy) and the managerial characteristics (e.g., human capital, political capital) influence firm-level innovation and entrepreneurship.
“We call for the collaboration between the private and public sectors to work hand-in-hand, not only to battle against the virus but to collaboratively create a new sustainable way of living”, says Jason Li-Ying.
